I feel that reading is one of our most essential skills in life.  Students will be required to read, keep track of their reading in a journal, and make at least ten Accelerated Reading points per nine weeks. Every student is required to get these ten A.R. points, or they will not be allowed to participate in our A.R. parties at the end of the nine weeks. If they go over the ten points, they could earn free assignment coupons and goodies to eat and drink!  They will also be required to do one book report every nine weeks!  7th grade students will also read short stories, poetry, novels, etc., from our Holt Reading Series.  They will also take Spelling/Vocabulary Tests every week.  They are given a list to study on Monday and will have their test on Friday of that same week. We will read two novels throughout the school year.  Those two novels will be Bearstone by Will Hobbs and The Westing Game .
